Advancement Opportunities

What are a woman’s advancement opportunities when she’s in the Navy?

In the Navy, women can grow, fight, train, achieve, and succeed right beside their male counterparts. The only limits you have while you’re in the Navy are the ones you place on yourself. If you dream it, you can live it. And the Navy can be the perfect opportunity to help you get your feet firmly planted and learn the skills you need for life.

As an Enlisted Sailor, you’re encouraged to excel. The Navy stresses education as an important part of your personal development and requires a high school diploma or equivalent. You can rise through the ranks from Recruit all the way to Master Chief Petty Officer. You won’t be held back because you’re a woman.

If you’d like to be considered for an Officer appointment, you’ll be required to complete your college education first. Not everyone can be an Officer, but everyone, women included, can be considered for the position. Many programs within the Navy allow your training to be accepted as college credits at accredited colleges and universities.

With experience, education, and training, an Officer position starts with Ensign, and goes through the ranks to Admiral. And there are women Admirals in the Navy.

You can make your own history as you live it, without being held back. For more information on how the Navy might help you reach your goals, go to http://www.navy.com/requestinfo.
