Women In the Navy

Being in the Navy means you’ve made a conscious choice to be in control of your future, and you’re limited only by your dreams and abilities. The Navy has dozens of empowering job opportunities for women, giving them the chance to explore interests without limits.

If you’re mechanically inclined and like fixing things, you could have the opportunity to work on a variety of equipment as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate or Structural Mechanic. Being a natural–born problem solver could mean you’d be working as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician, Damage Controlman, or Aviation Boatswain’s Mate. Interested in puzzles, mathematics, information management, or computers? You might be a great fit as a Cryptologic Technician, Information Systems Technician, or Surface Sonar Technician. And, if you like variety and can handle being in charge, you could be right at home as a Master–at–Arms, Quartermaster, or Air Traffic Controller.

Off–duty, you’ll still have time to do the things you enjoy, too. The Navy provides mail services, computers, and email access so you can keep in touch with your family and friends back home. And, you’ll have a lot to tell them – you’ll be visiting exciting places, meeting different people, and learning new skills that can help you achieve your goals for the rest of your life.

Check out two featured Navy positions where women are on duty: Explosive Ordnance Disposal technicians, who investigate, defuse, and destroy explosive devices; and Masters–at–Arms who patrol and enforce order on land and at sea.
